The Longlist Announcement

The Appraisal Committee has selected the list of contenders for e-Author version 5.0. 12 promising Indian writers have made it to the longlist. The authors on the list are:

• Kavitha Kalyan, Chennai (Novel)
• John Mathew, Massachusetts (Novel)
• Ashish Mehta, Gurgaon (Short Stories)
• Aditya Mukherjee, Singapore (Novel)
• Anand Ranganathan, New Delhi (Novel)
• Arun Sethuraman, Chennai (Novel)
• Sonya Singh, Gurgaon (Short Stories)
• Eshwar Sundaresan, Bangalore (Short Stories)
• Prasanna Venkatesan, Chennai (Novel)

The entries by these authors will be sent to the eminent jury members. The panel will select the authors for the shortlist, which will be announced on June 6, 2008.

The names of the authors have been arranged alphabetically.

The last date of submitting entries for Round 1 closed on March 24, 2008. A team of literary professionals will evaluate the entries received in the following categories - novel and anthology of short stories. The long list will be announced on May 6, 2008.

Oxford Bookstore’s online writing program, e-Author rewards the finest of new and emerging Indian writers every year.

The main objectives of e-Author are:

• To give talented authors an opportunity to test their talent and showcase their literary experiments in prose
  
  
• To build a platform for earning the unique distinction of writing a full-length book during the 6-7 long writing program and get published in print and online
  
  
• To provide a prospective opening to authors who are serious about pursuing a career in writing

Since 2001, Oxfordbookstore.com has awarded debuting writers who wrote their first full-length book by entering the competition. The winners were chosen on the basis of literary merit by an eminent panel of judges.

e-Author has received the support of distinguished authors and editors such as Amitav Ghosh, Anita Nair, Taslima Nasreen, Sudha Murty, Shashi Deshpande, Nabaneeta Deb Sen, Shamik Bandopadhyay, Githa Hariharan, Amit Chaudhuri, M J Akbar, Aniruddha Bahal, Vikram Chandra, Ashok Mahadevan, Jairam Ramesh, Kunal Basu and Michael Flannery who have all been on our jury panel in the past.
