Salman Rushdie (born 19 June 1947) is an Indian-born British author known for his imaginative storytelling, magical realism, and exploration of history, culture, and identity.

Rushdie began his literary career with Grimus (1975), but gained international recognition with Midnight's Children (1981), which won the Booker Prize and later the prestigious Booker of Bookers award.
