After the success of his first book titled 'You Can Win', Shiv Khera is all set to launch his second book, aptly called 'You can Lead'. Talking about the book, he says, 'I don't think there is anything known as new or old leadership. I have not seen the characteristics of a leader change in ages. Besides, in this book, I have brought in something called the concept of 'pseudo leaders', that I have not seen anywhere.'
Khera feels strongly about the lack of good leaders in our country. He explains the reason behind this: 'When good leaders do not come to power, somebody has to fill the vacuum. Automatically bad leadership comes in. Obviously, one cannot expect good decisions from bad leaders.' Khera also opines that it is not power itself that corrupts - power corrupts only those who are corruptible, period!
In India, Khera says, there is a need for trained corporate executives and company employees. What India needs to do, at the very outset, is to invest at least three to five percent of their gross turnover in training their manpower. In India, there are no laws that stipulate investment for training whereas, in countries like Australia, laws make it mandatory for corporate training. Here, in India, the lawmakers are the lawbreakers!
Khera has recently opened a new office for Qualified Learning Systems Inc. and is domiciled in Singapore. For a man who started training and motivating men in prisons across the country, he has certainly come a long way. If all goes well, 'You Can Lead' should sell in the millions. Now we just have to wait and see which way the sail on this leader's boat dips!
