All entries must be in English. First chapters in any regional language or translations from vernacular works will not be accepted.

All chapters sent in for the competition become the property of oxfordbookstore.com. The three winners of the first round of the competition will have to sign a legally binding document ,giving the first option rights to oxfordbookstore.com.

Oxfordbookstore.com will also retain the rights to publish the final three books in print.

The first chapter should be limited to 2,500 words. It must be original and unpublished. The authors may not have had any full-length book published before.

All submissions are to be made either on the site or via email. NO postal entries or entries faxed to the oxfordbookstore.com office will be accepted.

All entries should be sent in by April 15, 2001. Chapters sent in after April 15  will be deemed invalid and rejected.

All chapters should be fictitious. Any entry that defames any individual/ organization/ religion will be rejected. No offensive material will be accepted.

All entries must be the sole property of the author and he/she must attest that the manuscript does not infringe upon any right to privacy or copyright and that he/she has not entered into any other agreement that would conflict with this one.

The decision of the judges will be final and binding. The winners of the best three first chapters will be declared on May 1.

The best three first chapters will receive cash prizes of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000..

Oxfordbookstore.com will not be returning any rejected entries.

The book selected for the first prize will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25, 000. The two  runners-up will receive attractive consolation prizes of Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000.

All entries will be checked for spelling and grammatical errors and necessary editorial changes (at the discretion of the oxfordbookstore.com editors) may be made to the submission before it is added to the site. 

Oxfordbookstore.com reserves the right not to publish any of the e-books on the advice of the judges.

Oxfordbookstore.com reserves the right to amend the rules of this contest at its sole discretion.
